Insomnia: Free Screening

Insomnia is a common sleep disorder characterized by persistent problems in falling asleep, staying asleep, or both. It can significantly affect your quality of life, leading to daytime sleepiness, lethargy, and a general feeling of being unwell, mentally and physically.

Insomnia can be classified into two types: acute and chronic. Acute insomnia is typically brief and often happens due to life circumstances, such as receiving bad news or before an important presentation. On the other hand, chronic insomnia is disrupted sleep that happens at least three nights per week and lasts for at least three months. Chronic insomnia disorders can have many causes, including unhealthy sleep habits, shift work, other clinical disorders, and certain medications.

Symptoms of insomnia may include difficulty falling asleep at night, waking up during the night, waking up too early, not feeling well-rested after a night’s sleep, daytime tiredness or sleepiness, irritability, depression, or anxiety, difficulty paying attention, focusing on tasks or remembering, increased errors or accidents, and ongoing worries about sleep.
